Training of Journalists on EITI standards in the Oil and gas sector

CEPA with support from GAPP conducted training of journalists on reporting in the oil and gas sector. The training was to facilitate the selected journalists to understand the basic concepts, politics, policies and legislation governing the oil and extractives sector. The purpose of imparting this knowledge is to create a pool of journalists with understandings of the oil and extractives sector, to enable them to write investigative stories that will impact and influence Uganda’s policies, legal framework, transparency and accountability in the oil and gas sector. The training was successful in exposing journalists to EITI standards and reporting on the oil and extractives sector Moving forward CEPA will work with the trained journalists to ensure that they carry out investigations in the sector and promote accountability and transparency. CEPA  issue out a call and gave out 5 investigative grants to selected journalists to enable them to carry our investigative stories. these stories were published in the mainstream media publications and can be accessed on this link. The trained journalists appreciated the training as timely and critical in their work.
